Salary
£26,911 rising to £29,901 after successful 6 month probation period
Option to join the company pension scheme

Hours       
Monday to Friday 08:00 – 16:00 (finish at 15:30 on Friday)

Purpose of Job 
Working for our charity, providing free safety and security home visits for
vulnerable and elderly residents, fitting practical items and giving advice.

Key Accountabilities 

Have experience in dealing face to face with vulnerable and elderly members of the community.

Display excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to patiently and empathetically communicate with Bobby Scheme clients and their families when visiting them in their homes to conduct a safety and security survey.

Be competent to identify the security items required and complete the fitting. Security items
installed may include; smoke detectors, replacement door locks, door chains, key safes, video doorbells, window locks. Electrical work is not required.

Confidently provide advice and reassurance regarding safety and security to clients and/or family members.

Give talks and presentations about the work of the Bobby Scheme and provide home safety and security advice to community groups.

Maintain accurate records of works carried out during visits including works completed and stocks utilised.

Training will be provided on home safety and security.

Personal Specification 

The ideal candidate will be a good communicator and who will work well on their own, remotely from the office, which is based in Eastleigh.

Presentation, punctuality and an empathetic approach are essential along with a bright, cheerful personality with a willingness to help others.

The applicant should be both numerate and literate; GCSE grade C or above in Mathematics and English are desirable. DIY (or higher) skill level for equipment fitting is required, however some training will be provided.

The role is to cover the north of Hampshire. Ideally the successful candidate will live in this are to minimise travel.

The role requires the Fitter to drive between appointments. A full clean UK Driving licence is essential. A Driving assessment will be carried out during the induction. 

The successful applicant must pass police vetting prior to starting in the role. This is renewed every three years

Additional Role Information 

The candidate will be supplied with a van. This will be kept at the Fire Station closest to their home. This will be their start and finish point on a working day.

The Fitter will have a set area but will be required to travel across Hampshire & the Isle of Wight as necessary to support the team and minimise lead times.

The role is remote, the candidate will usually attend the office in Eastleigh once a week for restocking and on an adhoc basis for planned meetings.
